Hormones Shomones…

Remember a while back that I mentioned buying some Clearasil Gel stuff in hopes of sorting out these break out issues that I’ve been having? Well, I have been using it regularly for a while now- to the point that I probably have 1/3 of the bottle left, and I’m still not seeing any great results. Sometimes my face looks great, only to break out a week later. I have to say that it definitely is not the best acne treatment for me. Granted, I don’t technically have acne, but I’m having breakouts and they are never welcome- but especially UNWELCOME when I have a party to attend- like the one this past weekend. Yes, you got it- I had two spots on my face. I felt like a kid who woke up on prom day only to look in the mirror and find a huge spot on their face. That was me- only it was Marcel’s 25th anniversary gala and not the prom. I think I made it through without it being too traumatic though. Hormones- gotta love em.

Almost Finished

Filed under: Life,Shop til ya Drop — gardener @ 12:33 pm

Marcel and I have spent the last couple of days working on our new terrace design and it looks like it may be finished tomorrow. I’ll be gone in the morning, but he’s got plans to take care of a few things, and once they are done we can finally put out the new outdoor cushions, the candles and the other cute things I bought to complete the look. This weekend I found some adorable fabric that I have to wash, then hem so I can use them as table cloths. It’s going to be a wonderful space when it’s finished and I can’t wait.

Moving Made Easy

Probably one of the most important decision a person will make when they decide to make a move is whether they will do the move themselves or whether they’ll hire someone. Doing the job yourself is definitely the most cost effective way, and once that choice is made, there are important factors to consider such as where to get moving boxs. Rather than traveling all over town trying to find boxes, it’s not only more cost effective but also convenient to order exactly what you want and need online and have it delivered straight to your door.

Movie Deals

Filed under: Shop til ya Drop,Things I Love — gardener @ 4:52 am

About two weeks ago I received an email from this new company that started up in our area that offered discounted deals for our area. They had a really great deal to receive a movie theater gift certificate good for a 7.50 discount at the movie for only 1.00. Now that was a deal I could really go for. Marcel and I both love the movies and we love home theater seating, so we signed up. A little while ago he brought in the mail and the gift certificates were in the mail. You gotta love it- a trip to the movies for two people for only 2.00. Now that I know the place is legit, I’ll be checking out their other deals.

Sweetie, Your 45 not 15.

Last night Marcel and I were out walking the dog and we came across a group of younger teenage guys who were wearing the latest in what I call urban clothing. Marcel commented that he wouldn’t mind having a pair of the pants that one of the guys was wearing and I laughed, thinking he was joking. Obviously he was not. I had to break it to him gently that he is no longer 15, but instead almost 45 and that as much as I love him, I don’t think the pants are age appropriate for him. Fortunately, he took it pretty well. Men, you just gotta love em.

The “Eyes” Have It.

Not too long ago, mom and I were talking on the phone and she mentioned that she and dad had appointments to get their eyes checked and that it looked like they would both be getting new perscriptions for eyeglasses. She commented that she really wasn’t looking forward to the new prescription because last time she and dad both had to have new glasses, they ended up spending close to $400.00 for two pair. Since I don’t wear glasses, I almost choked when she quoted that price.

My first question to her was why they didn’t get them from Zenni. She asked me where it was located and I explained to her that it wasn’t a ‘store’ that she could visit, but instead it was a virtual store online and that she could get glasses for as low as $8.00. Her first thought was that it was some sort of gimmick, but I assured her that the only difference was is that Zenni doesn’t sell designer frames, but that the quality is as good as if not better than some of the designer frames out there.

I explained that by not having physical store locations, it allowed them to keep their overhead lower, which ultimately meant savings in the customers pockets. Mom was impressed and said that for those prices she and dad would be giving it a shot. I told her that she would need to make sure and ask the doctor to measure their right and left pupilary distance and write it down for them, and the rest would be easy-peasy. I also told her if she needed any help, she could always call on me, after all- that’s what great daughters are for.

Answered Prayers

The past couple of days have been really difficult for me.   In fact, I was starting to think that things were going to continue getting worse and that getting better just wasn’t a menu option.   Until today.    I asked on Facebook for prayers, and I know they were sent up because they were answered in a big way.

I had plans to meet my friends Anna and Bobbi today for lunch, and this morning when I woke up, all I could do was cry.   As much as I wanted to see them, I didn’t want to do anything.  I wanted to go to bed and stay there.   But I didn’t.  I  smiled that the sun was shining and I met my friends.   We had a wonderful time, and I felt better.

The outpouring of love and prayers that I felt from a simple request on FB meant a great deal to me.   I could feel it.   My prayers were answered and by the time this evening rolled around, I felt much, much better.    I can’t say that I’m without grief, because I’d be lying, but what I can say is that God is good and my prayers were answered.

I also came home to find that my friend Kimmie had sent me a Magic Jack, so I bought a new phone to use with it, and I set it up.  I now have a number that people can use to call me for FREE!   Don’t you just love that word?  I do!   Thank you Kimmie for blessing me, and for brightening my day even more.  You are the BEST!

Thank the rest of you, for praying on my behalf.  It means more than you know.

Spinning

Filed under: Life,Shop til ya Drop — gardener @ 12:47 pm

My mind is spinning with all that’s going on right now. Tonight is the wake (or visitation for anyone outside of the Deep South) and tomorrow morning the funeral for Carol. I’m having a difficult time thinking, eating and keeping my thoughts together, so I’m hoping that curling up in front of the HDTV with a comedy that can hopefully keep my mind off things for a little while. I’ve been feeling a rise in anxiety levels and that is not a good thing. I really need to try to keep focused as hard as it is. I need to try to laugh, even if it’s hard right now.

Creatures of Habit

Filed under: Life,Shop til ya Drop — gardener @ 11:31 am

Now that Marcel and I have started going through our insurance policies, he’s decided that maybe it’s a good idea rather than to just check up on our life insurance, to check up on all of our insurance online and see if we can get better policies with more coverage for less money.

I guess I’m just a creature of habit because I kind of like the old saying that we don’t need to fix what isn’t broken. It’s great to be informed of everything available and be educated on that, but I’m not ready to change. What we have works, and I’d prefer to leave it like that. Can I get an Amen?

Cleaning out the Closets

Marcel and I have been in this process of Spring cleaning since the weather hasn’t been good enough to do much of anything else. In that process, we’ve tossed a bunch of papers that we really have no use for anymore, making sure to shred them before we did. We also decided that it’s about time that we update our life insurance policy since it has been a while since we’ve done that.

Tomorrow, I’m going to tackle my closet… That should be fun.
