Goals

Filed under: Holidays,Life,Sands of Time,Shop til ya Drop — gardener @ 11:45 am

I’ve decided that I’m not going to make resolutions this year, but what I am doing is setting some goals for myself and plan to follow through with them.

One I mentioned in the previous entries is that I am going to begin the journey to lose this last 40 pounds. I would like to reach that goal by November 1st. That gives me 11 months from today. It’s realistic and attainable. Join me in this journey to continued health and fitness if you’d like. I could use the company.

I want to spend more time focused on enjoying myself. I had fun last year, but I seemed frazzled alot of the time. This year, if I have the urge to play playstation 3, I’m going to stop and play, rather than think about playing later and time getting away from me. Time to stop and smell the roses along the way.

This is also going to be a year filled with gratitude. I’m blessed, and grateful for so much, and I do believe it’s important to recognize those things in our lives and be grateful for them. I challenge you to do the same- even if you don’t share yours in a public area, it’s always good to live a life of gratitude.

Welcome 2010

The first day of 2010 has arrived and I’ve spend it doing exactly what I wanted to do. I didn’t sleep quite as late as I would have liked, but I did do a little cleaning around the house, plus did some laundry, enjoyed the gorgeous sunshine, and spend part of the afternoon and evening with Desere.

It has been a lovely day. This year I plan to spend more time focusing on positive, and eliminating the negative as much as humanly possible. The one major thing that I took away from 2009 is that negativity and toxic people can be toxic in our own lives if we allow it to be, and unfortunately I allowed that to happen in my life in a few circumstances last year.

2010 is the time for me to detoxify all that is negative out of my life. Does that mean negative things won’t happen in my life? Of course it doesn’t, but what it does mean is that I can be more aware of how I react to them, which can make all the difference.

My quest to lose the last 40 pounds is also beginning- If you’d like to join me on this journey- we can use this as a way to support and encourage each other. Who couldn’t use some of that?

Allergies, Sinuses and Headaches- Oh My

This little cold that I’ve had for several weeks now is still lingering. I thought that I was just about rid of it, but apparently it has arrived back with a vengance. Allergies and sinuses and headaches- Oh My. That’s pretty much how I’ve felt today and keep hoping and praying that I will wake up feeling like me again. I have a feeling that it doesn’t help that I haven’t been getting enough water, nor have I been eating healthy in the least bit.

I even had someone suggest that we ring in the New Year with Drew Estate cigars, which may not be a bad idea to some, but since I’m allergic to smoke, it’s something I think I’ll have to pass on for this year. Everyone else is welcome to partake though, as long as they don’t do it near me.

Right now, I think I need to forgo the water and go straight to the green tea. Maybe that will help, along with a little Tylenol.

Have Yourself a …

A MERRY Little Christmas!!!..

For the first time in my life- I woke up to a white Christmas. It started a little after midnight last night, and snowed all night and into the early morning. I woke up many times during the night, would have a peek outside, and then would smile and go back to sleep. This morning I woke up to a winter wonderland. It started raining not too long after that, but I don’t mind. I have my white Christmas. 🙂

Merry Christmas each and every one of you!

Christmas Change

I always love receiving cards from people this time of the year. I love Christmas, even though this year I’ve been running really far behind, but I know I’m not the only one and it’s ceased to bother me. It is what it is, and I plan to enjoy the Christmas season as much as I can. The highlight so far is the cards that I’ve received, often with letters from friends talking about what has been going on in their lives and what changes are taking place. One friend is expecting a baby, and another has been looking for jobs in Philadelphia since they can’t find what they were hoping for in their local cities. It seems that everywhere I look, change is occuring. I feel it within myself as well, only at this point, I am not sure of what that change will be, but it’s coming.

Look out 2010.

Baking Cookies

Filed under: Holidays — gardener @ 2:36 am

That’s what I’m doing this morning- well as soon as I finish writing this. Today is Marcel’s last day of work before Christmas, and he wanted me to bake some cookies that he could take and share with his colleagues. I planned to do it last night, but ran out of time, but I did get the dough mixed up, so now all I have to do is scoop and bake.

I hope they turn out ok.

I Can’t Believe

Filed under: Holidays — gardener @ 11:38 am

I can’t believe that we bought our tree on the 9th, and yet here we are on the 17th and the tree STILL isn’t decorated. We do have everything in the living room, and will have it all finished tomorrow, but I don’t thinK i’ve ever been so far behind in all my Christmas preparations as I am this year.

I’ll say it’s because I haven’t been feeling well, and because I’ve been busy. What it is- is ridiculous.. Ahhh such is life- I’m sure it won’t impact anyones life one way or the other, so I shouldn’t stress about it.

One Step Closer

Filed under: Holidays — gardener @ 1:53 am

Last night we finally bought a Christmas tree, which puts us now one step closer to being ready for Christmas. We also decided to spend next Thursday at a Christmas market in another place, and invited some new friends we’ve made to go along with us.

Sometime today comes the task of rearranging the furniture, followed by hopefully getting the tree in the stand. That’s going to mean Marcel finding it in the storage shed, but he thinks he knows just where it is. Once we are finished, pictures will follow.

Does everyone else have their tree up already?

Sharing the News

Filed under: Holidays,Shop til ya Drop — gardener @ 2:41 am

I don’t know about y’all, but when the holidays roll around, I find that I don’t just think about gift ideas for people that I love, but when I come across things that I think my friends would benefit from, I want to share it with them. I have a friend who loves to travel, and she also happens to be expecting her first baby in January, and when I saw baby travel gear, I couldn’t help but think about her and how she could benefit from anything to make her traveling with the baby easier.

I’m excited for her and her husband and look forward to meeting baby Luca when he’s born. It won’t be that long now.

For the Holidays

Filed under: Holidays,Shop til ya Drop — gardener @ 10:22 am

Marcel and I were talking about Christmas today when we were on the way to the doc to get his stitches out and I made the suggestion that we do a few home improvements this year as opposed to buying each other Christmas gifts. Neither of us really need anything, and I saw some beautiful wooden blinds that I would love to have for our bedrooms.

We have shades but have been talking about wooden blinds for a long time, and I love the selection that I found. It meant that I could get the two colors that I wanted, one in a deeper wood color for our bedroom and a lighter color for the guest room. Then again, black may also work in the guest room, because I’m working on some film grain shots to hang in there for art, and the room will be black and white with a touch of red.

I think home improvements are a great idea instead of Christmas gifts, especially if you’re like us and don’t really need anything but have home improvments that you’d like to make. Definitely something to consider.
