Christmas Cards

Filed under: Holidays,Seasons,Shop til ya Drop — gardener @ 6:00 pm

I pulled out my Christmas cards this morning with the thought that I may possibly start working on them. The key word there would be ‘thought’, because it didn’t take long for me to get distracted with other things. My brother called on his way to the doctor, so we talked for a while. Looks like he’s got a lighter version of whatever it was that I had last week. He left work after being there a couple of hours and after a visit to the doc for antibiotics, he went home and spent the rest of the day in bed.

I attempted to organize my very disorganized bedroom, plus printed out all the cruise documents that we need for this coming weekend. I also talked to Desere via Whats App for a while and then it was time to head to town with mom and diddy to pick up a few things. By the time we got home- it was time to get dinner going, and now- here I sit. The Christmas cards became a fleeting thought.

It looks like I won’t get started on them until we get back from the cruise. With Desere coming in Wednesday- it looks like I’m going to be busy for a while.

Fun with Friends

I messaged Samantha this morning to see if they made it back from their trip to the mountains for Thanksgiving. They had. I sent her a message asking if I could come over tomorrow night since I woudn’t get to see her before Desere arrived otherwise. She said I was welcome to come over but asked if I’d rather go out and get sushi tomorrow night. Since I have been craving Chef Scotts- my respose was a big YES, YES, YES!

I told her that I’d be skipping lunch tomorrow, but that was before my friend Debbie messaged me and asked if I wanted to go to a great restaurant in Ocean Springs that serves great hummus. I can’t wait to spend some time with her, so obviously, I said YES!

Looks like it will be breakfast I’m skipping tomorrow and if I don’t watch it I’ll be asking what are the best diet pills because I’m hoping to ‘lose’ weight this trip and not gain. I’m sure I can swing it though. Now that I’m feeling much better, I can get back to exercising.

Gratitude

Filed under: Food for Thought,Gratitude,Holidays — gardener @ 4:17 pm

I was listening to Oasis online this morning and they are starting a Christmas series called “Live, Love, Laugh”. I was hoping to be able to make it to the service, but I wasn’t so I decided to do the next best thing and that’s watch it online. Pastor Camp talked about how we really shouldn’t be focusing too much on what’s going on all around us, because those are things we can’t control. Instead, we should be focusing on what’s happening inside of us and making sure that we are cultivating the ‘good’ things.

I think that’s part of my problem for this entire year- There was SO much going on around me that I had no control over that it overwhelmed me. There was a lot of drama and negativity- and rather than focusing on the ‘inside’ I allowed some of that ‘junk’ to creep in. Now- I need to fix it. There isn’t a magic wand, but a little at a time I know I can get ‘me’ back and for that- I’m grateful.

Packing and Getting Ready

We took an afternoon drive today to check out the docks and parking area where we need to go for the cruise next week. I’m getting really excited about it and I know my parents, Marcel and Desere are as well. It will be weird to be completely ‘technology free’ for five days, but in some ways I’m actually looking forward to it.

We’re hoping that the upstairs hot tubs don’t have spa covers on their tubs at night so that we an get in a little late night hot tubbing. Plus, Samantha filled me in on a great place on the ship to go for a little peace and solitude. I have a feeling I’ll be checking that place out daily.

Look out Mexico, here we come!

Bale Jumping

My parents have a large field out their back door and they rent the land to a farmer who grows and cultivates hay. At the end of the season, when it’s ‘cuttin’ time- he bales the hay in large, round bales and lines it up along the tree line on the other side of the field.

This afternoon the kids decided to play on it, and the adults (or more accurately- the females) decided to climb up and jump from bale to bale. It goes without saying that it was quite comical- but we had a blast. I think we may actually do it again. I did get a great video of mom that I’ll be putting on You Tube.

It’s All in the Hormones

Before today, I haven’t had make up on since I got sick on Tuesday. I noticed today that my hormones are on the rampage and it’s ‘that time’ again, I can tell that my face is starting to break out again. I have so much that I’d like to talk about and share, but right now I’d better get this makeup off before I start needing acne treatments to clear up my face. I’m also feeling a little hungry so I think it’s time to indulge in some dinner.

Coconut Man

This afternoon we had some friends over for fun and games. When it got dark and too cold to stay outside, we decided to come in and goof off. The guys were watching football and the ladies and some of the kids were sitting at the table. Mom drew a smiley face on a coconut that I have and we added a styrofoam hat along with a grapefruit body- Before you knew it- we had a coconut grapefruit snowman. Yes- the things we do to entertain.

On The Bright Side

Being sick the past few days has been like having the natural fat burners for women. Having a sore throat has meant that I only want warm liquids and I have really struggled to have any type of appetite. One of my antibiotics has to be taken with food, so this morning instead of oats I had a banana. I feel as though I’ve shed a few pounds, and that’s one positive thing about being sick.

Gobble Gobble

Happy Thanksgiving y’all- I hope that even if you live in a country that doesn’t celebrate this holiday- that you’ll still take some time out of your day-to-day life and reflect on what you have in your life to be thankful for. So many of us (myself included at times) tend to get so caught up in everything around us that we fail to pause and really reflect on the ‘good stuff’ or blessings that we have in our lives. Trust me- once you start counting them, you’ll see you have many more than you thought.

Could Use a Little Color

Filed under: Travel — gardener @ 8:57 am

I have a little over a week before we all head out into the deep blue waters for our cruise. That means I have even less than a week to start feeling better, since Desere will arrive on the 1st. I still haven’t decided about swimming on the ship- even though I’d originally planned to, I’m now concerned about getting my ear wet. I’m pretty pasty white at this point and some people would probably want to use the best indoor tanning lotion so they would at least have a little color on the ship, but I think I’ll pass and go for the glowing white look.
